To support the Department Manager with the necessary resources that will enable the department to meet their label production obligations to the customer while maintaining VRSG quality standards.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: Follow the directives of the manager to lead, coordinate, and supervise the production of labels to achieve the ultimate goals of the department
Duties:
1. Coordinates and ensures the timely completion of all label production projects in order to meet the specific deadlines for each job.
2. Ensures that the machine repair log books are being accurately kept for each machine.
3. Follows the daily job schedule to complete jobs in the order in which they are needed in distribution for shipment.
4. Maintains inventories on parts and supplies needed for maintenance on the label equipment. This includes spare and replacement parts for both types of label machines.
5. Keeps the work order system up-to-date at all times.
6. Assists in the hiring and dismissal of label production personnel.
7. Performs employee evaluations in conjunction with the Manager for the label machine operators.
8. Approves label machine operators' vacation and time-off requests.
9. Documents unacceptable employee behavior and job performance and performs discipline functions according to established procedures.
10. Initiates purchase orders for any equipment and supplies needed for the upkeep or upgrade of the machines.
11. Heads the training process for new label machine operators.
12. Communicates any label production issues with the manager.
13. Maintains housekeeping standards.
14. Abides to and performs lockout procedures.
15. Enforces all health and safety procedures as set by company policy.
16. Records all accidents, as well as near misses.
17. Maintains MSDS department manual.
18. Completes the monthly OSHA checklist.
