Title Controller

Description Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Controller will work collaboratively with team members and others to achieve established financial organizational goals. Maximizes return on financial operations by establishing and maintaining financial policies, procedures, controls and reporting systems. Strong GAAP expertise is necessary. We require an effective leader with a track record of driving improvements in financial policy formulation and the processes/procedures to implement those policies.

1. Maintains integrity of the general ledger for all corporate entities by managing the month-end close process, reviewing and approving journal entries, reviewing account reconciliations and directing cost center allocations. Reviews all monthly consolidated and separate company financial statements.
2. Oversees and manages the outsourced accounting provider to ensure timely and accurate transactions, use of best practices and value added service. Makes recommendations to optimize the outsourcing and create efficiencies.
3. Manages the external financial statement audit, preparation of the Form 990’s and other tax compliance reporting.
4. Assists with preparation of the annual budget and quarterly reforecast process.
5. Monitors weekly cash flow forecast and liquidity.
6. Leads, mentors, and develops and retains a diverse team.
7. Performs other duties as assigned.


•BS/BA in Finance/Accounting. Certified Public Accountant preferred.

Relevant Work Experience
•A minimum of eight to twelve (8-12) years of related experience. Experience accounting in a non-profit organization necessary. Public accounting audit experience preferred.
•Working knowledge of Federal and private foundation grants and contracts experience is desirable.

•Exceptional analytical, problem solving and computer skills.
•Advanced knowledgeable of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and the ability to can explain complex financial concepts to non-financial internal customers.
•Extremely detail-oriented with an ability to carry out work with highest levels of accuracy and efficiency.
•Ability to think critically and collaboratively build solutions in a politically sensitive, high visibility work environment.
•Ability to recognize and address business opportunities and provide exceptional customer service.
•Flexibility in dealing with changing priorities and demanding workload.
•Work well under pressure and possesses effective problem-solving skills and the ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
