Description E Ink California, LLC. is seeking an experienced Synthetic organic chemist to join the material R&D team. As part of an innovative research team, this candidate will bring novel organic chemical design and synthesis expertise to the team and contribute to colloidal research and product development in the field of electrophoretic displays (EPD).
Responsibilities • Design and invent new organic material, synthesize and source organic material by probing and understanding how these materials works in EPD based on profound knowledge on Organic Chemistry, Surface and interfacial Chemistry
• Build up the correlation among material design, material properties, their impact on colloidal properties and final display performances. You will need to possess profound understanding on the molecular level, link to colloidal properties, performs fundamental mechanism studies, be able to design unconventional test method to verify the conclusion.
• You will have to keep explore and bring new materials into the development platforms, be able to widen product designs. The job function requires close collaboration throughout different groups.
• Synthesize, purify organic material in lab scale, characterize physical, chemical properties, stabilities, and develop critical to function qualitative analytical methods
• Scale up the synthesis and purification, establish quality control test methods, specifications and transfer to manufacture facility, provide documentation and training
• Investigate and explore new ideas, demonstrate proof of concept, create new intellectual properties
• Participate in cross functional teams in technology and product development.
• Effectively communicate with all levels of the organization and promote and contribute to a cohesive team working culture.
Qualifications • Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry, Physical Chemistry, Surface Chemistry, or Colloidal Chemistry
• At least three years of industrial experience in research and product development
• Hands on experience in Organic synthesis, with in depth understanding of structure-property relationships
• Strong analytical skills
• Working knowledge on the charging behaviors of non-polar colloidal system is a plus
• Experience in trouble shooting, show a data driven approach to problem solving and an ability to work under pressure.
• High energy and self-motivated, candidate must be goal-oriented, creative, and be able to handle multiple tasks
