EMCORE Corporation is seeking a Production Support Technician.
The candidate will be primarily responsible for building and maintaining production equipment for optical, electrical, and mechanical assemblies on the Fiber Optic Gyroscope line. In addition, the candidate will assist in engineering experiments and product development. The appropriate applicant will have strong knowledge in lean manufacturing systems.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Perform the manufacturing processes.
• Perform repairs in the field.
• Provide feedback to supervisory and engineering personnel on blue print and schematic errors.
• Troubleshoot process and equipment problems.
• Enforces clean room disciplines.
• Understand statistical process control methods.
• Facilitate lean manufacturing and lean improvements
• Enforces good housekeeping practices to maintain clean and efficient working environments

• Works as a member of the manufacturing team by promoting teamwork and demonstrating professional behavior, a positive attitude, good interpersonal skills and effective communication.
• Acts as support to and back-up for supervisor as assigned.
• Identifies nonconformances when they occur and participates in finding the solution to the nonconformance.
• Deploys the Quality Management System as it applies to the scope of work.
• Helps production operators when inconsistencies or other issues arise
• Some travel required.
• Stop any process that threatens the quality of the products or the safety of work environment.
• Initiate corrective action when a nonconformance is identified and stop the process when a nonconformance is found.
• Design and execute complex optical, electrical, and mechanical test for engineering.
Other appropriate duties as assigned.
Requirements MINIMUM EDUCATION:
• 2-year degree in an engineering or physical science field. Industrial, mechanical, or electrical engineering preferred.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE:
• College experience will be considered (i.e. college coursework, projects, etc.)
• Has worked with and can implement lean manufacturing
• Has experience troubleshooting complex systems

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
• 2 - 4 years of related experience in manufacturing
• Six-sigma training
• Experienced in building/maintaining industrial automation equipment
