EMCORE Corporation has an immediate need for an Associate Engineer, Facilities. This role has 2 areas of focus.

Facilities/Equipment: Performs electrical or mechanical troubleshooting to determine problems in non-functioning electro-mechanical equipment used in the manufacturing process. Dismantles, adjusts, repairs and assembles equipment according to layout plans, blueprints, operating or repair manuals, rough sketches or drawings. Uses test and diagnostic equipment to perform specified tasks. Rebuilds manufacturing equipment as required. May perform equipment modifications as directed by manufacturing engineers. Performs preventative maintenance and other general facilities related functions as assigned.

EHS&S: Will be part of the Emergency Response Team (ERT) and ERT first responder group. Will be required to work flexible hours and respond to off-hours emergencies as directed. Removes and disposes of waste chemicals, solvents and acids. May provide clean up chemical spills as directed.

• Monitor environmental standards for clean room operation and certification, e.g., temperature, humidity, particles.
• Perform facility equipment operational and preventive maintenance procedures, routine handling, storage, delivery, tracking and disposal of chemicals, gases and hazardous waste.
• Assist with implementation and utilization of the maintenance procedures
• Respond to customer service requests.
• May conduct routine safety inspections Support production equipment installation.
• Assist in development of new equipment and project specifications.
• Maintain facility data collection requirements, documents, records and procedures.
• Identifies non-conformances when they occur and participates in finding the solution to the nonconformance. Enforces good housekeeping practices in order to maintain clean and efficient working environments
• Deploys the Quality Management System as it applies to the scope of work.
• AS degree with emphasis on electrical or industrial engineering.

• BS degree, electrical or industrial engineering.

• Minimum 3 years is preferred
• Ability to read layout plans, blueprints, operating or repair manuals, rough sketches or drawings
• Troubleshooting of semiconductor equipment
• Experience handling and disposing of chemicals
• Previous Hazmat 1st responder experience
