  • Assumes professional responsibility for the treatment and services provided in all CCBHC clinical programs and assures that the treatment and services are medically necessary;
  • Assures that all psychiatric and medical services provided in the CCBHC meet accepted standards of medical practice; 
  • Assures that medical services are coordinated and integrated with other client care services to ensure continuity of care for each client;
  • Reviews any physical examination reports and medical screening results conducted off-site of a client for the preadmissions process or for other medical concerns, in order to ensure that the client's medical needs are considered and addressed in the development of the treatment plan and throughout treatment;
  • Assists the Program Director in the development and maintenance of written objectives, a policies and procedure manual, an organization plan, a quality assurance program for medical services, and review of all medical policies and procedures at least annually;
  • Participates in hiring, orientation and training of the medical staff;
  • Provides direct supervision of CCBHC Psychiatrist and APNs;
  • Provides psychiatric evaluations and medication management services on a scheduled and as needed basis when appropriate;
  • Provides input into treatment and service planning for the CCBHC programs;
  • Acts as psychiatric back up CCBHC Psychiatrist and APN’s;
  • Works with CCBHC Program Directors in addressing concerns related to the program;
  • Mediates or assists in resolution of medical problems between CCBHC programs;
  • Participates in meetings and agency sponsored trainings related to the CCBHC;
  • Completes managed care or other insurance applications as required by the agency on a timely basis; responds promptly and cooperatively for requests for information regarding licenses, etc;
  • Approves the content and location of emergency kits or carts, medications including controlled substances, equipment and supplies, the expiration dates of medically related time-sensitive items, the frequency with which these items are reviewed for appropriateness and completeness, and assigning qualified staff to perform these reviews;

  • Graduation from an approved American Medical College or college of Osteopathy or equivalent, approved foreign medical school.
  • Completion of one year American Medical Association approved graduate training.
  • Completion of American Medical Association approved Residency Training Program in Psychiatry, which includes service in a mental health clinic; two additional years of experience in psychiatry.
  • Must be certified by the American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM), or its successor certification board, by June 1, 2012; OR, a physician currently licensed to practice in the State of New Jersey, who has not completed ASAM certification by June 1, 2012, must have worked in a substance use disorder treatment facility a minimum of five years for at least 20 hours per week and have completed the ASAM/American Association for the Treatment of Opioid Dependence (AATOD) clinicians training course;
  • Must have ability to demonstrate at least two years of direct experience in the provision of detoxification services;
  • MAT Certified to prescribe Buprenorphine and other medications to treat opioid and alcohol abuse disorders;
  • Comprehensive knowledge of modern psychiatric theory and practices such as telepsychiatry;
  • Thorough knowledge of and experience in providing psychopharmacology services;
  • Experience in quality assurance programs, including utilization and peer review;
