As a Substitute Residential Counselor, you will work in an adult group home in Medford, Burlington County, NJ. The residential group home serves adults with a severe and persistent mental illness who have been discharged from Ancora State Psychiatric Hospital after a minimal stay of six months.

 

Responsibilities:

• Provide onsite consumer supervision

• Provide proper training and assistance with hygiene, grooming, meal preparation, laundry, and household chores

• Provide functional assessments of consumers

• Supervise and organize recreational activities

• Record significant shift incidents and observations

• Train and direct in all Activities of Daily Living

• Respond to emergency situations as directed by the Program Supervisor

• Have availability to consumers and staff on a 24 hour emergency basis

• Must work 2 or more Holidays per year

• Must work 16 hours of weekend per month

• Must attend 8 staff meetings per year

Requirements

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree (BA, BS, BSW) from an accredited college in a mental health related discipline

• One (1) year of related work or life experience if the four year college education is not in a human service field or

• A combination of one or more years of college plus work or life experience equal to four years

High School diploma or equivalent plus four years of related work or life experience
