Title Head Start Substitute Teacher PY

Description General Statement of Duties:
Assist teacher by performing various instructional tasks. Work involves a great deal of creativity, perception and initiative. Decisions made in accordance with policies, procedures and philosophy of the Center for Children. This is an on-call position.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Assist children in activities designed to promote social, physical and intellectual growth in preparation for primary school.
2. Help children develop habits of caring for, picking up and putting away toys, books and other materials.
3. Able to work independently without direct supervision.
4. Direct and assist children in hygiene, eating and toilet training.
5. Assist children, individually or in groups, with lesson assignments to present or reinforce learning concepts.
6. Participate in planning, preparing and developing various teaching aids.
7. Initiate measures to control behavior and/or maintain discipline.
8. Monitor rest and activities periods.
9. Perform related duties as assigned.

Supervision Received:
Perform duties under the supervision of assigned Teacher.
Requirements Education, Training and Experience:
1. High School graduate,
2. Associate of Arts in Early Childhood Education. preferred B.A in Early Childhood Education or related field.
3. Training needed: First Aid, CPR, Blood borne Pathogens

Skills and Abilities:
