Description To plan and implement a program of educational activities for infants and toddlers that encourages age appropriate growth and development in a variety of areas.

Previous professional experience working with infants and toddlers.

Ability to develop and implement a classroom curriculum that encourages academic, social, emotional, and physical development of infants and toddlers.

Maintains compliance with day-care licensing and HHS regulations
Knowledge of or ability to learn to conduct developmental screenings and assessments of children.

Working knowledge of child development, age appropriate behaviors, common childhood behavior problems and appropriate interventions.

Evaluate the accomplishments of the children on a regular basis and reports progress to parents/guardians.

Promote parent-child bonding and nurtures parent-child relationships. Assist in facilitating parent education workshops as assigned.

Assume primary responsibility for developing intervention plans and action steps for designated children, including counseling, administering developmental assessments, coordinating family services, and designing and implementing daily programming for the child.

Observe children on a regular basis for signs of possible handicapping conditions and seek the assistance of specialists as needed.

Plan assignments and participate in the performance review/appraisal of the assistant teacher.

Maintain the record keeping process, i.e. home visits, parent teacher conferences, developmental screenings and assessments and Individual Education Plans.

Cooperate in any investigation related to personnel, licensing, accreditation or other circumstances.

Attend departmental and agency meetings and training as required
Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education/Child Development or Elementary Education with a ZA (or Early Childhood) endorsement required.
