Description x1. Responsible for ensuring that daily activities and interactions reflect the mission and goals of the program.
2. Plan and implement a program of educational activities for infants and toddlers, including writing a weekly lesson plan that specifies daily schedule, toward the achievement of specific curriculum goals as written in education component plan.
3. Create a clean, safe classroom environment that is conducive to learning, promoting social relationships.
4. Evaluate the accomplishments of the children on a regular basis and reports progress to parents/guardians.
5. Plan and implement an individual service plan for each child in the classroom.
6. Plan and conduct at least two conferences and two home visits per child.
7. Plan and implement outdoor activities that develop gross motor skills and promote exploration and social relationships.
8. Promotes feelings of security and trust in infants and toddlers by being warm, supportive, and comforting, and by establishing strong and caring relationships with them.
9. Develop curriculum activities that reflect the ethnic/multi-cultural makeup of the community.
10. Maintains compliance with day-care licensing and HHS regulations.
11. Monitor and work in conjunction with assistant teachers to provide an well-organized classroom.
12. Assist in ensuring that all health and developmental screenings are up-to-date.
13. Maintain confidentiality of information related to home and school environment.
14. Assist in providing volunteer training.
15. Promote parent-child bonding and nurtures parent-child relationships. Assist in facilitating parent education workshops as assigned.
16. Provide document and reporting all program activities and interactions as required by contract, licensing and programmatic goals.
17. Implement classroom nutrition performance standards and document in weekly lesson plans.
18. Provide infants/toddlers with experiences that support their full range of developmental and socio-emotional needs.
19. Provide infants/toddlers with experiences and opportunities that allow them to develop curiosity, initiative, problem-solving skills, and creativity, as well as a sense of self and a feeling of belonging to the group.
20. Provide activities that foster development of a positive self-image; address physical and mental health needs of children and document in weekly lesson plans.
21. Observe children on a regular basis for signs of possible handicapping conditions and seek the assistance of specialists as needed.
22. Plan assignments and participate in the performance review/appraisal of the assistant teacher.
23. Assist in recruitment activities.
24. Ability and desire for personal and professional growth and skill development.
25. Conduct classroom and education equipment inventory.
26. Assist in implementing all policies and/or rules governing the operation of the center.
27. Maintain working relationships with families, staff and community that are accepting of differences.
28. Assume primary responsibility for developing intervention plans and action steps for designated children, including counseling, administering developmental assessments, coordinating family services, and designing and implementing daily programming for the child.
29. Responsible for maintaining required documentation including reporting in a complete and timely manner.
30. Coordinate the planning, writing and implementation of individualized lesson plans.
31. Work cooperatively as a member of a team with other program and supervisory staff.
32. Maintain the record keeping process, i.e. home visits, parent teacher conferences, developmental screenings and assessments and Individual Education Plans.
33. Cooperate in any investigation related to personnel, licensing, accreditation or other circumstances.
34. Attend departmental and agency meetings and training as required
35. Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements 1. Associate degree in Early Childhood Development or Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education/Child Development or Elementary Education with a ZA (or Early Childhood) endorsement required.
2. Previous professional experience working with infants and toddlers.
3. Ability to develop and implement a classroom curriculum that encourages academic, social, emotional, and physical development of infants and toddlers.
4. Ability to interact with children in a warm, nurturing manner.
5. Ability to work with children with developmental delays or disabilities.
6. Ability to be self-directed in the completion of tasks.
7. Ability to maintain an open, friendly, and cooperative relationship with each child’s family, encouraging their involvement in the program.
8. Knowledge of or ability to learn to conduct developmental screenings and assessments of children.
9. Working knowledge of child development, age appropriate behaviors, common childhood behavior problems and appropriate interventions.
10. Knowledge of the practices of early childhood teaching.
11. Ability to intervene with children's behaviors in a non-punitive and supportive manner.
12. Ability to communicate effectively with young children and their families.
13. Ability to work as a positive and productive member of a team.
14. Ability to develop and implement individual service plans for children.
15. Ability to work with and to demonstrate commitment, caring and respect for children and adults regardless of race, gender, age and cultural or ethnic background.
16. Ability to work cooperatively with supervisors, colleagues and all agency staff.
17. Commitment to the welfare of the families the program serves, and to the delivery of quality services.
