Description .General Statement of Duties:
Welding Instructor will be responsible for increasing student learning through designing and implementing effective learning strategies as it relates welding. The selected candidate will be responsible for lab and classroom instructional delivery. Strong understandings of welding processes and concepts are required for this position.
Requirements .Major Duties and Responsibilities:
• Facilitate student learning and deliver instruction
• Prepare and deliver lectures, lab exercises and moderate classroom discussions
• Evaluates student progress and documents assessment.
• Assists student in his/or her activities to insure student achievement of program training goals.
• Effectively manage classroom, maintain discipline standards and assist in the improvement of curriculum delivery.
• Demonstrate respect for students as individuals and foster a respectful learning atmosphere in labs and classroom
• Assume daily responsibility of housekeeping and maintenance of welding equipment, computers and classroom
• Integrate computer applications into teaching.
• Instruct and ensure compliance to safety rules and regulations according to Federal, State and municipal laws, as well as, Focus: HOPE Safety Rules and Regulations.
• Perform other duties assigned
Skills and Abilities:
• Must be experienced with welding processes and concepts.
• Ability to communicate effectively with various individuals at all levels throughout Focus HOPE environment.
• Demonstrated ability to work with diverse populations representing a wide range of abilities, nationalities and cultures
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
• Strong commitment to civil and human rights.
• Empathy and desire to help people become self-sufficient.

Special Licenses/Certifications Required Education, Training and Experience:
• Required: 5+ years documented experience in the field as a certified welder
• Preferred teaching experience at college level, AWS certified, or Journeyman card in welding
• Preferred: Associates or Bachelor’s Degree in Welding Technology, or a relevant field, and/or certification as a vocational instructor or equivalent.
