DIRECTOR OF BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT & STRATEGIES
GRANT FUNDED POSITION

General Statement of Duties
The Director of Business Development & Strategies will provide dynamic leadership and effective management of growth and expansion of Focus: HOPE initiatives that are cross-functional in nature, but have a core in the mission. The Director is responsible for developing and implementing integrated strategies, to foster and manage relationships with corporations and organizations, creating partnerships as well as earned-revenue opportunities. This position will interact routinely with corporate executives, directors, and managers, as well as with other decision makers. This position will work closely under the direction of the Chief Executive Officer to create strategy frameworks and processes.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:
• Identify and build relationships with corporations, governmental agencies, non-profit organizations, funding agencies, and community leaders.
• Manage, coordinate and conduct calls on targeted industry companies in coordination with Focus: HOPE program teams.
• Lead research and analysis activities for business outreach and engagement in collaboration with Focus: HOPE program teams.
• Manage organization prospecting, ensuring proper data entry in CRM system and facilitating weekly internal meetings.
• Organize and manage corporate opportunity assistance activities and referrals for potential workforce development partners, and other partners as identified.
• Conceptualize and develop potential new ideas/opportunities for improvements or new business development by proactively assessing the impact of emerging talent needs, competition from other community organizations, and competitive trends/benchmarks.
• Connects with key resources to develop ideas, best practices, and ensure diversity of thought in development of innovative solutions.
• Utilizing Focus: HOPE’s newly created business plan for selling workforce development programs, including workforce readiness, retention services and upskilling training to employers, implement program and secure corporate clients as a source to generate earned revenue.
• Work with the Marketing Department to update and develop marketing and promotional materials.
• Represent Focus: HOPE at public functions, as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office software.
• Ability to identify opportunities.
• Ability to prioritize work across multiple departments.
• Excellent organization, time management, and multitasking skills - this role involves working on several simultaneous projects and requires the Director to meet internal and partner driven deadlines.
• Flexible and able to contribute effectively as part of a professional team.
• Self-motivated with excellent energy and enthusiasm, with passion for outreach and engagement.
• Strong strategic thinker and problem solver with exceptional persuasive written and verbal communication skills as well as excellent presentation skills.
• Must be able to negotiate and close sales opportunities.
• Demonstrated ability to lead outreach and engagement program.
• Must understand what it means to be accountable for outstanding customer service to all external and internal customers.
• Must have valid driver’s license and be able to drive own car to appointments within the multi county service.

Supervision Received:
Perform duties under the supervision of the CEO.

Requirements Education, Training and Experience:
• Bachelor's degree in appropriate business-related field.
• Minimum of 5 - 7 years' experience in business, business development or related field.
• Experience working with public and private partners a plus.
• Business client relationship management experience.
• Experience with CRM system.
• Previous sales experience.
