• Work directly with business stakeholders to understand and capture reporting requirements.
• Work with Data Services teammates and other tech groups to understand data sources and existing reports.
• Develop data structures, reports and dashboards in MicroStrategy to fulfill the requirements of business stakeholders.
• Fulfill ad hoc data requests from business users. These may be time-sensitive and may require custom SQL or integration of multiple types of data sources.
Requirements • 3+ years of experience in reporting or ETL in a data warehouse environment.
• Some experience providing end-user reports or cubes in a BI tool such as MicroStrategy, Business Objects, Cognos, Essbase, SQL Server Analysis Services, etc.
• Strong SQL skills - writing, troubleshooting, and performance tuning.
• Good communication skills - must be able to interact with people across all technical and business teams.
• Strong combination of technical and analytical skills - must be able to understand systems in detail, but also able to grasp the “big picture” of how systems are structured and related.
• Strong interest and ability to understand business processes and concepts, not just technology.
• Basic knowledge of data warehouse concepts (Star Schema/Kimball methodology)


Preferred:

• Experience creating reports and dashboards with MicroStrategy
• Knowledge of eCommerce or general retail concepts
• Experience in a big data environment, especially with Hadoop and Hive
• Experience with ETL tools, especially Pentaho Data Integration (Kettle)
• Programming or scripting skills (e.g. Java, Ruby, Perl, Bash)
