JOB SUMMARY:

The Manager of Training and Adult Education is responsible for the development, coordination and implementation of short and long term adult Career Pathway and Digital Literacy Training opportunities and the administration of the Adult Basic Education and GED Preparation services for adults in North and the Cedar Riverside Neighborhood. This position is responsible for on and off site collaborations with post-secondary institutions and maintaining effective channels of coordination and communication. He/she will be responsible for providing curriculum development, coordination and scheduling of classes and coursework with a team of staff, adjunct staff and volunteers.

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Plan, set-up, coordinate and supervise adult career Pathway Trainings, education and digital literacy trainings
  • Recruit, interview, hire and supervise on-site Training Coach's and adjunct staff
  • Oversee the data, reporting and evaluation functions of the North and Cedar Riverside Neighborhood Adult Training and Education Services and activities
  • Oversee curriculum development, accountability (testing) procedures and required assessments
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual reports by deadline
  • Prepare for and comply with all monitoring visits as scheduled by contracted requirements and program funders
  • Seek and assist in the writing and development of grant proposals for the procurement of funds for all training areas including continuation, revisions, amendments, and new funding applications
  • Stay abreast of current and research current trends in adult career pathways and adult education
  • Serve on local and state committees and boards related to adult education
  • Monitor multiple budget revenues
  • Ensure all policies and procedures for expenditures are in compliance
  • Provide staff, adjunct staff and volunteers with the necessary and current resources for supporting adults seeking education and training resources
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Associate Dean for Outreach Services.

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Experience:

  • This position requires knowledge of Adult Career Pathways and GED/Adult Basic Education programs, services and activities
  • Experience and ability to administer grant programs funded through local, private, state, and federal funding sources
  • Supervise and lead a team of 3-5 staff in multiple locations
  • Must demonstrate the ability to work independently in a fast-paced, multi-task oriented environment, and must possess superior decision-making skills
  • BA or higher degree required, with a major in education preferred
  • Experience managing and or leading an adult education program in a community setting that would have included including program scheduling, hiring and management of employees, grants writing and project administration, and budget management preferred, but not required
  • Extensive knowledge of Adult Education, funding sources and service agencies is desirable

  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills to optimize the adult education department
