Union Institute & University, a national university offering undergraduate, masters and doctoral degree programs for adult students is continuing its search for a successful Chief Financial Officer to lead its national operations based in Cincinnati, OH. The CFO, reporting directly to the president, serves as the chief finance officer of the university providing leadership and strategic direction for all financial aspects of the university, including facilities, risk management, safety and security and information services. As a senior leader and member of the president’s cabinet, this position provides critical input into strategic planning and the operations of the university and works closely with the Board of Trustees. We are seeking a strategic leader with a track record of success in financial analysis, planning, forecasting and budgeting. Experience supporting enrollment management activities, endowment and investments a plus. This position works closely with the senior team to establish and implement short and long term business goals, objectives, policies and operating procedures. In addition, the CFO works with academic and operations administrators to provide support to business initiatives through financial analysis, reports and recommendations and ensures that effective controls are in place to maintain compliance with accrediting agencies, federal, state and local laws.

Requirements Minimum of Master’s degree in management, finance, accounting, business or public administration or a related field;
CPA certification or other professional accounting certification;
Experience in a non-profit setting and preferably higher education with ten years or more in administration of financial activities;
Demonstrated ability to handle issues and concerns in a diplomatic and sensitive manner and the ability to work with a diverse population of adult students and employees;
High degree of computer literacy including proficiency in technology;
Experience with facilities management and capital budgeting;
Exceptional communication skills;
Strong commitment to continuous improvement and data-driven decision making and strategic planning.

Preference will be given to those candidates who reside within commuting distance to our national headquarters in Cincinnati, OH or to one of our academic centers in Los Angeles or Sacramento, CA or Hollywood, FL.
